When is everything happening?

The main event is on Saturday (October 31, 2026), with the ceremony starting at 4pm followed by a cocktail and a reception. We'll also have: Friday (Oct 30) — a welcome "ice-breaker" evening in Mérida. Think drinks, food and some (friendly(?)) competition. Sunday (Nov 1) — a tornaboda (post-wedding recovery day) for whoever's still standing. All of this will happen in Mérida.

Where is the venue?

Hacienda Sac Chich, Calle 16, 97380 Acanceh, Yucatán, México

How should I get to and from the venue?

We will provide bus transport to and from the venue, from central Mérida, so no need to worry about that. Buses will depart from the pick-up point at 2:30pm. There's one and only one departure and we want ALL of you there. Mexicans, you've been warned! Shuttle buses will return guests to central Merida from 10pm, until 2am. The pick-up and drop-off will be the Courtyard by Marriot Merida Downtown.

Can I travel to and from the venue independently?

You're more than welcome to, but keep in mind there's no parking there and not much around the hacienda. We'd recommend taking an Uber rather than driving, which are plentiful in Mérida. To our knowledge, Ubers won't travel out to the hacienda for return journey, so we'd recommend using the transport provided.

What should I wear?

We’ve given some guidance on this on the itinerary page, as well as moodboards for inspiration.

Is the wedding kid-friendly?

Yes, kids are welcome! If you're bringing your kids, please get in touch with Touché Wedding Planning. There will be an option for an in-venue nanny service + a little kids area with some games/activities.

Are Mexican weddings very different?

Yes and no. Expect a lot of dancing (from everyone!) and the drinks work slightly different. It will be an open bar with assigned waiters that will look after you and your table.

Are British weddings very different?

Yes and no, again. Speeches are a vital part of weddings in the UK, so come prepped with tissues and expect to laugh.

Do I need to speak Spanish / English for the wedding?

Nope. Love needs no translation, and we'll make sure everyone feels at home.

I'm worried about travelling to Mexico, is it safe?

Mexico City for tourists is as safe as any other big city. Beware of pickpocketing, particularly in the Historic Center, and have your wits about you, but there's no need to worry. Mérida is consistently rated one of the safest cities in Mexico and one of the most liveable in Latin America. We wouldn't be getting married there if we didn't feel completely at home, and we want you to feel that way too.

What street food should we try in Mérida?

We have recommended a lot of amazing restaurants, but the one street food you can't miss is Marquesitas. There are carts all over Paseo Montejo and it's a great after-dinner treat.

What currency should I bring?

Mexican pesos are king. Most places in Mérida (and the country) accept cards, but it's worth always carrying some cash, especially at markets and smaller stalls.

What's the tipping situation in Mexico?

Service is not included in Mexican bills. Best practice is to add 15% and a little extra if it was particularly good service.

Will there be Día de Muertos celebrations in Mérida?

Mérida goes all out. Expect processions, ofrendas (altars) throughout the city, marigold-covered streets, live music, traditional food stalls, face painting, and the cemeteries lit up with candles through the night.

What actually is Día de Muertos? Is it just Mexican Halloween?

Not at all, and we're glad you asked! Día de Muertos is a deeply meaningful celebration rooted in indigenous Mesoamerican tradition. Rather than mourning the dead, it's a joyful reunion: families believe their loved ones return for one night to visit. It's colourful, emotional and beautiful.

Where else should I visit?

Mérida and its surroundings are beautiful and have loads to visit. We recommend Cozumel, Holbox and Cancún (yes, the beaches and ocean are beautiful!) for beach getaways. For day trips you can view our recommendations on the website. We're planning on being in Mexico City the week before, doing some low-key hangoutsL taco tours, jazz bars, the pyramids, nothing formal, just fun mingling times. We'd love to see some of you there!

Where can I get hair and makeup done?

We recommend Salón Herrera. C. 60 346, Zona Paseo Montejo, Centro, 97000 Tel. +52 999 328 3840
